Introductory Information about Richard

I have lived in Redbourn since 1985. This followed from my appointment as the head of business lending at Barclays Bank in Watford. My two children attended the primary school in the village followed by schools in St Albans.

In 1997 I left Barclays and joined the Central Bank of Kuwait, in Kuwait. My family stayed in Redbourn with my wife visiting me during school holidays – Sue worked at a school in St Albans.

Since arriving home, I have volunteered with a Citizens Advice Bureau, CPRE Hertfordshire and the organising committee of Redbourn Christmas Market. I was the honorary treasurer of the last two and became the Honorary Chairman of the second, serving until 2021. I became the paid Money Adviser at the CAB until a reorganisation of local government removed the funding of the role and I was made redundant.

My interest in the protection of the countryside, against inappropriate development, and in finance and accounting as well as loving and valuing living in Redbourn, caused me to respond to the call for people to put themselves forward as possible Parish Councillors. I was co-opted as a councillor in July 2023.
