Links to Other Councils

Hertfordshire is a non-metropolitan county, so Redbourn residents elect three tiers of representatives at the parish, district and county levels. Responsibilities for different services are divided between the three tiers.

Redbourn Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of parts of the village it owns and also areas of land it leases from the district or county councils. These include: Redbourn Common, Cumberland Garden, East Common and Silk Mill Play Areas, Redbourn Parish Centre, Redbourn Museum, dog bins and seats/memorial benches, Long Cutt, Flamsteadbury Lane and the Millennium Site. Both the district and county council has to consult with Redbourn Parish Council on local planning matters.

St Albans District Council provides and manages services like housing, benefits, rubbish collections, street and pathway cleaning, missing or damaged street signs, planning and building control, parking, etc.

Herts County Council provides and manages services like Adult and Child Social Services, Schools and Education, Household Recycling Centres, Highways, Roads and Pavements, Public Health, Fire and Rescue, Trading Standards, Libraries and Register Offices etc.
